What conditions do I need to fulfill in order to receive the coaching for free?

1. Be registered as job-seeking or unemployed at the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter.

2. Apply for the AVGS voucher – we can help you with the application! (see FAQs “How do I request the voucher?)

How do I register as job-seeking at the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter?

1. Check your status: are you an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, or you hold a valid settlement permit or temporary residence permit that entitles you to work in Germany? Then you qualify!

2. Register online at the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter.

By the way – you can register as job-seeking three months before the end of your employment!

Note that in order to complete the registration online, you have to have the online function of your identity card, residence permit, or eID card activated. Alternatively, you can go to either institution in person and bring (1) your ID card or passport, (2) your certificate of registration, and (3) your visa or residence permit (if applicable).

I registered online as job-seeking - what now?

The Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter will send you a PIN number via post – this takes about two days.

After your documentation has been checked by the agency, you will have an in-person meeting with your caseworker to discuss further steps – at which point you could already discuss the possibility of coaching!

How do I request the voucher for the coaching?

Where does the coaching take place?

We can coach you in all of Germany, since we offer our coaching online. Most of our coaches are located in Berlin and some of them also offer in-person-coaching. We can talk about what format works best for you.

How long is a coaching process?

The coaching is generally 8 weeks. It depends what your caseworker provides in your coaching voucher. We can help you request the voucher.

What is the online learning platform?

In our career coaching, the units provided by the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter will be divided into two parts: given a 60 unit voucher (1 unit = 45 minutes), you would have 32 units with one-on-one coaching with your coach, which amounts to around 8 weeks of coaching with two 90 minute sessions per week. The other 28 units are for our online learning platform, which was designed by our coaches, especially an ex-recruiter (our coach Heidi Korpela).

The learning platform contains content by various different coaches from our site, including videos, exercises, tips and tools. The platform is divided into 8 main topics:

Goal setting & knowing yourself and your strengths
The job market: platforms, portals and research tips
LinkedIn: polishing your profile and gaining visibility
CV Bootcamp
Networking as a job search strategy
The application process: research, time management, cover letter and budget planning
The recruitment process: communication, negotiation and self-presentation
Long-term career growth: resilience, mindset and continuous learning

We also just started a community space where you can exchange and network with other coachees. Furthermore, we announce our monthly free photoshoots on the platform, giving you the opportunity to get new headshots.

Generally, the learning platform is intended to provide you with additional resources, asynchronously to one-on-one coaching with your coach.
